Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific discipline that has proven to be an effective approach for reducing maladaptive behaviors and promoting the development of functional skills to replace those behaviors. ABA is grounded in the principle that an individual’s behavior is influenced by both past and current environmental factors and can be effectively modified using reinforcement techniques and procedures to decrease unwanted behaviors.
ABA involves analyzing and evaluating an individual’s performance, the function of their behaviors, and environmental variables through systematic observations. The collected data is then used by a lead analyst to design and implement a behavioral program that addresses undesired behaviors, sets learning objectives, and makes environmental adjustments to achieve meaningful changes.
